In this 1905 antique duck hunting painting by Percival Leonard Roussea, a beautiful Llewellin setter returns from a pond with a mallard hen clenched gently in her jaw. Roussea's strict attention to detail is on full display here, and this is truly one of his most impressive works.
The dog in this painting is believed to have appeared in several other of his works as well, including one titled simply, 'Leda', which resides in the collection of the American Kennel Club.
Born in Louisiana, Roussea was an avid sportsmen who raised many dogs, both for sport and to pose for his hunting dog paintings.

Artwork hung over furniture looks best at about 75% of its width, with the bottom edge approximately 6-12 inches above the furniture.

The only exception to this rule is when you're hanging your art piece over the fireplace. In this case, it's best to choose a print which is either the same length as the mantle, or the same width as the fireplace opening.
When hanging art on an empty wall, utilize the three-eights rule, leaving empty space which amounts to about three-eights the width of the painting on each side of the wall.
